What are the PDO threads?
Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are medical grade, surgical threads that are made of polymer that is a dissolvable, synthetic, absorbable, monofilament suture. Smaller PDO threads (“mono, screws”) are tiny – about the size of human hair. Longer threads (called Barbs) used for skin lifting are thicker. PDO threads will dissolve on their own within 6 (smaller, shorter ones) to 9 months (longer, thicker ones).
How do PDO Threads work?

How long do PDO threads last?
Shorter PDO threads (kind we use in our Dermanature clinic near Woodlands, Conroe, Tx) usually start to dissolve within 6 months, thicker ones (“Barbs”) dissolve over a longer time 7-9 months.
According to research done by various producents of PDO threads’ companies, the results from the placement of the PDO threads and their collagen formation (placement and dissolving process) will last much longer, from one to 2-3 years.
Results of PDO Threads last as long as your new collagen fibers last. The healthier and younger your body is the better collagen production in general.
Can I use PDO threads instead of the fillers?
PDO threads are very tiny (a size of human hair), and as you can imagine it will need several of them to create volume. To some degree, you can use PDO threads to “fill up” the desired space, but if your nasal-labial folds are deeper, you most likely will need a filler.
I like to prepare the desired facial area with PDO threads to create a “collagen foundation” then after a few weeks or months later, treat that area using less filler to get better final results.
If you are younger, you may want to start earlier with your own collagen formation with help of the early PDO threads treatment which may postpone or delay the need for fillers for several years.

Are PDO Threads replacement for Botulinum wrinkle treatments (Botox ®,Xeomin® etc.) or fillers (JUVÉDERM® or Radiesse ® etc.)?
PDO threads (Dermanature clinic near Woodlands, Conroe, Texas) are not equivalent to products that temporarily treat wrinkles or fillers.
Botulinum wrinkle treatment (Botox ®, Xeomin ®, Jeuveau ®, Dysport ® Woodlands, Conroe, Texas) works on muscle by temporarily relaxing it which produces less movement, therefore fewer wrinkles over the treated area.
